Qld: New record January temperature set in Brisbane
Electricity consumption across Queensland soared to record levels today as Brisbane
recorded its hottest January day on record.
The mercury level at Brisbane Airport reached 39.1 celsius at 1.30pm (AEST).
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster DAVID BERNARD says the 39.1 maximum was 10
degrees above normal and the hottest January day since official records were first kept
in 1929.
