China's Handset Sales Hit 78.96mn Units
BEIJING, Apr 18, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- In 2005, China had mobile phone sales of 78.96 million units in its domestic market, increasing 7.72 from the previous year.
The data come from a report upon China's mobile terminals and channels by Analysys International, a leading Internet based provider of business information about technology, media and telecom (TMT) industries in China.
Over the past year, the GSM mobile phones have had a strong performance with sales of 72.13 million units, rising 14 year on year, according to the report.
But the CDMA mobile phones have had declined 30 compared with 2004 to 6.84 million units. In 2005, the proportion the CDMA mobile phones took in the Chinese market kept dropping from the 13.47 in the first quarter to the 6.46in the last quarter.
Nokia, Motorola and Samsung have become three of the top GSM producers in China. Nokia ranked the first with a big market share of 26.91. Domestic producer Bird listed the fourth with a 6.78 share.
