Attention First-Time Drivers and New Drivers in Florida: American Safety Council Announces State of Florida Restricted Driver's License Exam to Be Offered Online for the First Time.

ORLANDO, Fla., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Good news for first time drivers in Florida -- rather than waiting in line at your local driver's license office, a

new online testing program starts this week which allows you to take your Learner's Permit (Restricted Driver License) Exam over the Internet using your computer.

The new testing program, the first of its kind in Florida, is certified by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and is available on

a statewide basis through the American Safety Council's http://www.firsttimedriver.com/

website.

"We expect to help many people save a great deal of time and avoid the frustrating lines at the driver's license office," says Bob Proechel, president

of the American Safety Council, the organization that spearheaded development of

the new program.

If you have never held a regular driver's license in any state, you must complete a Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (First Time Driver) course

before applying for a driving permit in the State of Florida. Now, if you take

and complete this course online at http://www.firsttimedriver.com/ you can also take your Learner's Permit (Restricted Driver License) Exam online.

The cost for the online exam is $20 (in addition to the applicable course fee).
